Using a Braun in ear thermometer is 36.9 / 37.1 a high temperature? The screen is coming up green. I am led to believe that in ear and in mouth temperatures are different?

I don’t have an in mouth thermometer only an in ear.

No, 37.8 is the starting point for a fever

Do a twice daily reading so you know what your normal is.

FaithInfinity · 19/03/2020 08:52

Either of those is normal. 37.8 is regarded as a low grade fever.

treedragon · 19/03/2020 08:55

The web says that the threshold for a fever using an in ear device is 38 and 37.5 for an oral device....?? The threshold is higher for in ear....?

I believe the theory behind that is that ears are generally warmer anyway because they are close to the brain so blood flow is a priority!

We've been randomly taking our temps with a Braun in-ear in order to give us an idea of what's normal for us.
We are 4 humans (I think) aged 53, 52, 25 and 18 and we seem to hover about 37.1. I'm sometimes 37.3 but put that down to the old hot flushes. It's gonna be fun for the others stuck in lockdown with me and my menopause.
