Will they give us notice if the whole of the UK goes on lockdown?

I will be going to my parents home if we have to all lockdown, I'm worried about getting us there. They are not far away but if we all have to go on lockdown will they give us notice to get to where we want to be?

I'm really worried.

Im assuming they would set a date and time for when the lockdown would begin, This would allow people to return to their homes from wherever they are

They will have to give some notice, as they'll need to allow time for the news to distribute across the UK. Europe have a day's notice of the borders closing, so I would hope we'd have something similar. And during a lock-down you should be able to get permission to go out for certain circumstances (I'm thinking chemo appointments; scans; etc.)

Where are you? I just watched today's PM update and BoJo said categorically that London transport will not be shut down (while avoiding questions about whether a lock-down will or will not happen). I would hope that would apply to other places. If nothing else, a lock-down won't include essential workers such as NHS and emergency services, and they'll need to get to work.
