Mine. Team of 45 and only 5 laptops available so no working from home

Schoolchoicesucks · 19/03/2020 08:36

My work has just implemented fully wfh. This is relying on everyone who can using personal laptops as there are about 5 company ones (50 staff). Some company laptops were ordered but not received yet and by the time they are, not sure if they will be able to be configured.
It's been ok so far, no pushback from staff on using their own devices as all grateful to be home and working (so paid). I expect this raises security/data protection issues, but we are muddling as best we can, not sure what else we could do without completely closing down.

My boss wants to wfh herself but for me to come in. Nice. Angry

We are all still in work

HelloGabriel · 19/03/2020 08:40

We can't as it'd mean taking customer files home which is a massive no-no.

KenAdams · 19/03/2020 08:41

Yes, and we're non frontline public sector. I'm deemed high risk so I'm at home, but everyone else has had to go in.

Ginfordinner · 19/03/2020 08:42

My workplace has insisted that anyone who can work from home must do so. They are taking the long term view that it is the only way to sustain our business. As we supply the NHS, other emergency services and other businesses that will be kept going through this crisis, we need to be pragmatic.

We've been divided into two teams in my department. One team will work from home on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other Tuesday and Thursday for alternate weeks from now until end of April.

I was the only one in the department without a laptop as have never been important enough to need one but miraculously one has been allocated to me now.
