He made great play on the experts and the modeling, his statements on handshaking, the take it on the chin comment and joked that getting more ventilators could be called "Operation Last Gasp" shame it won't be his as PM.

Even now we get comments like it will sweep through the country and we'll emerge on the other side....yeah how many ?

He seems to have been asleep on the job as CV swept from China to Europe, not ordering more equipment, training and testing... until its too late.

Belatedly, he is now realising the urgency of the situation but when the UK needed a leader, we ended up with a clown, with no plan, just reacting to pressure and what others are doing....in other words panic.

However, deep down we all knew this about him, shamefully still voted him in.

@pilates A well reasoned, argued response!

Never was the phrase "Nero fiddled while Rome burned" more apt for these times, this administration and their supporters.

Wether people like it or not he is the pm and nobody knows how anyone else would if dealt with it , most likely the same as probably would use same experts . It would help if people actually followed what they are being asked , this is the big problem . Everyone wanted schools to shut now all I am reading is moaning about them shutting . We need to all just be working together and following the only advice we have for now . looking out for our neighbours etc not worrying about political point scoring at this time , infact maybe the major political parties should work together in this and put their differences behind them for now

in an instant they could demand SM's set aside shopping hours for staff but they haven't.

Tesco's has reserved a special time for health workers.

Do try to keep up.

While you are busy railing on here about the government, most of us are just trying to make sense of our lives as best we can, being sensible, trying to take care of ourselves, trying to take care of other people, not trying to make political capital out of a world crisis.

Still, if being angry makes you happy, crack on.

Coronavirus: Urgent appeal for Brits to work on farms

The irony is deep in this.

Op, it’s clear you don’t support our PM. But I’m sorry to say that your view is out of ignorance. No world is perfect. Nobody could have been prepared for this. It doesn’t make sense to have massive of ventilators in standby, or trillions of equipment in the off chance we one day will need them. Supply usually meets demand in a typical time. This is not a typical time.
I do get however that you’re scared and frustrated and billions of us are. Particularly with your dd working in a front line capacity without the correct equipment. But I’m very certain, irrespective of our PM, the same issues would be present. These things take time to manufacture in the quantities needed right now and then to be logistically distributed. Many people within the NHS have recently reported how they’ve received delivery of equipment. It’s getting there. When the country is in a state of panic, I understand how everything feels wrong and needs sorting instantly. Of course it does too, but life doesn’t happen like that. These things take time, distribution of funds, the manufacturers to be capable of massively increased numbers, distributors. Even the supermarkets can’t cope right now, and we all know we won’t starve but running out of pasta is horrific to some of us, loo roll, tinned toms.

When considering front line workers without protective equipment, me running out of loo roll and tinned tomato’s is irrelevant.
