Schools closure - time to proactively self isolated?

So with the schools closing tomorrow, would it be prudent to just self-isolate (regardless of symptoms) for 2 weeks?

DH is able to work from home and I've been let go from my bar job so it is feasible. Realise this shitstorm isn't going to go away anytime soon and we could still contract it after 2 weeks but by proactively isolating would it help slow down transmission?

Absolutely. If you can, do it.

Enforced lockdown is coming anyway (wondering if this would be Monday).

By self isolating now you will prevent the spread and help others. I can't see why you wouldn't.

Yes. We should all be self isolating now.

You will help slow (not prevent) rather. If all of us did this, it will slow numbers.

There's a great video somewhere of a circle of matches being lit. The flame moves from match to match, but once one matchstick is removed, the circle is broken and the flame goes out.

Trouble is such a lack of clarity.

There's talk of social distancing, avoid large hatherjngs etc but nothing as prescriptive yet as in: "actually UK citizens, if you can why don't you all just self-isolate for 2 weeks"

My one major problem is that I care for my elderly DM. She is ok for a few days on her own but not sure how she'd cope for 2 weeks
