Food shopping when self isolating

I am supposed to be self isolating for the next 12 weeks due to underlying health issues. We have enough food in the cupboards to last the next couple of weeks, but what are we supposed to do after that? There are no delivery slots available, so I'll have no option but to go out and shop, will I?

Could you ask a friend, family member or neighbour to go for you?

Failing that, community groups are being set up to assist those who are unable to get out - should be able to find these groups on your local facebook page.

Join a site called Nextdoor and there are lots of people on there offering to support people in situations like yours - and there are lots of FB groups etc doing the same
I believe the supermarkets are in the process of coming up with plans too - eg Morrisons

Lots of local groups offering to shop and deliver for you if you have no friends or family who can. Check FB or local radio.

Thanks all, will have a look at local groups. The only family I have locally will also be self isolating, and the same for my closest friends.

But will you all be self isolating at the exact same time? if it's staggered you could all help each other.

Yes I second getting on social media. I'm going to be posting a letter through the neighbours door tomorrow to say I'll happily get her supplies for as long as we're not self isolating. I know she has a daughter but I'm not sure whether she'll be self isolating for the full 12 weeks too. There's still lots of elderly in the supermarket, it's sad to see.

Don’t go out and shop. Local shops are likely to deliver.

Yes, we will be self isolating at the same time as we're doing it for the 12 weeks, as recommended by the government for the elderly and people with underlying health issues, rather than because we're symptomatic iyswim.

Looks like social media might be the answer. It feels a big ask from friends who are not that close, especially when the shops are rationing everything.
