Wtf do I do?

I've just finished my last job and am waiting to start a new job. It's been a week and half since my last day at work and I've no idea when I'm due to start my new job.
Now obviously the whole CV thing has put the whole world in a funny situation. My new job is in care. My DC aren't at school obviously I'll hardly get any pay this month. I private rent and I don't know where I'll get the money from or if I can claim anything. I don't even know if I can start in my new job because of CV and it being a Care setting!

Just wanted to say I know how you feel and I know how worrying it is! I was due to start a new job and they’ve let me know it’s put on hold until the CV situation is clearer - however with your job being in care they may very well need you urgently
anyways! I really hope so!
In the meantime apply for UC, contact your landlord and all your bill suppliers and ask for help - I have been pleasantly surprised at how understanding everyone has been to me. Best of luck x

I'm going to get on it all tomorrow and see where I stand and what I should do.
Absentwomen · 18/03/2020 20:44
Second the PP here. Please submit a claim online tomorrow for UC and call up all your providers.
Handhold.
WrongKindOfFace · 18/03/2020 20:47
You can start the claim online tonight if you want. However if you have any wages owing you may want to wait until they have been received before you make a claim as they will be deducted.

Ok so I've applied for UC today and have to call to make an appointment.
My new employer has said I can start next week but today I've started work a scratchy throat, I'm cold and my ears and nose feel itchy. New job is in a care setting, I'm going to have to tell them I'm self isolating aren't I? Also how can I go to the job centre if I am self isolating!!
Teacaketotty · 19/03/2020 19:43
Glad to hear all is okay with your new job!
All job centre appointments are over the phone for the next 3 months.
