Schools open for key workers but...

So I am an NHS doctor returning to work from mat leave in 2 weeks. I don’t expect anyone to know the answer but if schools open for key workers I still won’t be able to work without nursery care for my baby and before/after school care. How do you think this will work? I have no family or friends who can help and my DH is a doctor also

Nurseries are expected to make some provision for you too.

My organised private nursery has up to now said they are closed from Friday without any mention of any ongoing provision. Our before and after school clubs have also emailed to say they are closed (operate from the nursery rather than school)

Sit tight. I’m sure you’ll be given options soon. Not the ones you planned perhaps, but there are posters coming on from other countries to say that governments are working it out. Ours will too.

OP what is baby's dad's job? Is there any provision there?

ineedaholidaynow · 18/03/2020 19:56

I'm sure there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes trying to work out how this will pan out (I hope so anyway)

There's a few childminders on my Facebook announcing emergency places at the moment.

My DH is an anaesthetist - haven’t seen him for a few weeks as he’s pretty busy! I hope something will materialise as I want to be able to work and pay my bills.
