Self Isolation and Dog Caught My Arm With His Teeth

The dog jumped at my other dog trying to bite her and caught my arm. I have cleaned it with antiseptic and covered it, but what do I do if I need any medical attention? 😢

Not ill myself, but have someone in the house who has had a high temperature

Keep bathing it in saline (boiling water, salt, let cool to just 'hot', soak with kitchen roll). If it's a properly penetrating bite wound or you haven't had your tetanus vaccinations (last time I had to, it was 5 in your lifetime or ten years if you couldn't say for certain), you have to seek attention, though.

Have you had a tetanus in the last 10 years? Or 5 in your lifetime as above.

If not ring 111

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 18/03/2020 19:20

Did it draw blood?

Veterinari · 18/03/2020 19:22

If it's just a scratch and you've cleaned it it's very unlikely to need attention

I am up to date with tetanus and it did bleed a little, but has stopped. I will keep an eye on it and contact GP surgery for advice tomorrow if it looks bad. I just panicked a bit because I know I can’t just go anywhere. Thank you all

Honestly just keep it clean - it's a superficial wound, as long as it's clean it'll be fine Confused
