Does anyone know if Childminders will have to close? My childminder works in a pair and have 8 children in the setting...

My childminder has said tonight that she is waiting to find out herself!

johnworf · 18/03/2020 19:04

Yes, we are to close. Just been confirmed by Early Years Alliance and Pacey.

Glenthebattleostrich · 18/03/2020 19:06

We are awaiting government confirmation but as above, believe that yes we will be closed.

Teacher12345 · 18/03/2020 19:07

Yes the risk is the same as in other childcare settings.

This from Early Years Alliance

Update for childminders

*We have been in touch with the Department for Education who have informed us that today's announcement on the partial closure of early years providers on Friday DOES apply to registered childminders.

We have asked this to make this clear in all ongoing communications, rather than current references to 'nurseries' only.*

Still open for key workers, my childminder has just emailed me because I'm a doctor...

mnahmnah · 18/03/2020 22:35

So now we just need a definitive list of who is classed as a key worker. I’m a teacher and still unsure if I am a key worker and what we will be required to do in terms of going to school for the children of key workers!

sandybeaches74 · 19/03/2020 07:45

She's just emailed to say still opening as it's a small group of children - no idea whether that's allowed or not!

Mine is staying open especially for key workers. I'm a teacher and she's said she will have mine. Usually just before and after school but now will be full day.

Childminders will be open for key workers but if they have a partner that isn't a key worker, then the child/children are expected to be with the other parent.
