Rationing

Is anyone else in support of rationing. The World has gone mad right now. Locally we have no fresh food, tins, frozen, bread, milk, pet food cleaning supplies, soap etc available over 7 supermarkets - Aldi, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Waitrose, Tesco, Asda, Lidl .

Local shops have nigh on nothing too. I have had to help 2 very elderly ladies in tears today.

Has anyone started a Gov petition for this?

Most of the supermarkets are now imposing limits on what you can buy. They will try that first and hope it sorts things. If it doesn’t then yes rationing will come in. Most supermarkets now have special measures for the elderly. Though I did watch the news today and an old lady allowed to shop earlier walked out with 48 toilet rolls! So I hope the elderly will be considerate of the rest of us!

That sounds bad. I agree and think something needs to be put in place so everyone can access essentials.

As far as I know supply chains aren't even the issue yet, it's just the stock is gone as soon as it's put out - so what will happen once the supply chain slows?

How long can the supply chain keep restocking things immediately?

Oh and for anyone struggling to get things...forget the big supermarkets, try your little local shops, especially continental ones. DS came back with 4 bags of pasta today from a Turkish shop. Spoke to a friend and her DD got rice and several spices from another continental shop.

As I live rurally, there aren't many options or alternative shops. It's a real pain.

The trouble is I think there must be people going round all the shop or every family member taking a trolley each. Also some people have one or two people to care for, some have a large family. Some extended families live together etc.
We need actual ration cards or the equivalent.
