List of key workers

Does anyone have a list of who the potential key workers will be in England?

Husband is military and I'm a support worker for local council (I know not traditionally a key worker, but I know the government are worried about a potential shortage).

Everyone who works in the fire service.

WitchyPoos · 18/03/2020 19:20

I work in a supermarket and I need to know too. Luckily I'm off on holiday until the 31st but need plans in place for then.

What about the teachers and ta working to provide care for those in NHS etc? Do their kids then go into school?

This is what tinterweb says...

benradette that's a good point. Im a doctor and dh is a techer. technically our kids could go to school I assume due to my job. Im hoping they will be able to stop home alone (aged 11 - 17) but they can be silly/immatue/fight ect and it will be for a long time. 17 yr old hopefully can help but she is also gutted about loss of her A levels etc. However Dh will presumably have to go in to keep school open for other children. Its so hard to do the right thing.

Hopefully shop workers delivery drivers care and personal support workers, post office and other postal staff. There will be a lot of funerals that can’t be held if clergy, funeral staff and religious leaders have no childcare either.

allaboardthesinkingship · 18/03/2020 19:44

Except dentists and doctors!?!!!!! Surely they're the most important!

Bogoffrain · 18/03/2020 19:48

That list is for key workers who can potentially buy a shared ownership property, doctor and dentists would earn too much to qualify

Aryaneedle · 18/03/2020 19:50

I'm a lone parent social worker in a non statutory service and we still have to do food parcels/missing from home and care/vulnerable family visits and court ordered contact visits. I have 3dcs and no idea what im going to do. I've been very blase about this until this point.

Sharkyfan · 18/03/2020 20:00

I think social care will be included, surely.

Inthemuckheap · 18/03/2020 20:04

@blueuggboots that' the key worker list for housing - nothing to do with C19.

TargaryenDragon · 18/03/2020 20:05

I have a feeling that that will be a basic start to the list... adding all the people around them involved as well. So it should include doctors and dentists, and hopefully retail workers as we need to keep supermarkets etc running.

How are schools going to know what jobs the parents of their students have?

Cassie71 · 18/03/2020 20:09

I'm a stay at home carer, looking after my disabled partner. Should that be on the list?

Redlocks28 · 18/03/2020 20:19

Do you look after your partner as well as your husband at the weekend/during the holidays?

Hillocrew · 18/03/2020 20:30

Cassie I wouldn't think so. Why would that mean your children need to go school????

Abbyd222 · 18/03/2020 20:31

As the above said surely you look after all your family after school, weekends and holidays so no i don't think you would be on the list

OneForMeToo · 18/03/2020 20:34

Our school have said they are getting a list in the am and are sending out a ParentMail for parents to answer if they are on the list so they can prepare school for those children.
