I've made the decision to keep dcs off school. None of us have any symptoms but from talking to the dcs today there is hardly any teachers and children there anyway, so how can I word it to the schools?

Just say you are social distancing as a family.
My school has about 40% of the children off for self isolation or social distancing.

Just ring the absence line, leave your message giving name, class and reason for absence as self-isolation. Or same but by email if they’ve asked for that.

BoJo the clown is likely to announce school closures in about 20 minutes anyway - that’s a best guess given the education secretary is appearing today. He might not though as he’s not exactly running this clusterfuck very well so far! You don’t have to explain & no proof required (not that anyone could provide any even if they wanted to..).

I've just told both the teachers. Completely fine, no questions asked

Nquartz · 18/03/2020 16:57

I don't think they will mind what you tell them to be honest, it won't be a surprise

Balkinfly · 18/03/2020 16:59

Don't think they will care at this point.

The schools are half empty different teachers covering different classes lesson plans are out the window. If you can just keep them off and phone school saying you have decided to keep them home.
