Self isolation without a garden, wibu to take them to the local playing feilds?

2 out of 3 children ill but when they are better wibu to take them over the road to the field for a few hours a day over the 2 weeks? I know it is self isolation but we have no outside space as we live in a flat and at ages 6 5 and 2. I could most likely avoid everyone in the comunal areas and I have been disinfecting the communal doors as I go through them anyway.

I wouldn't consider it with a garden but I don't know how we will manage with no space to run for 2 weeks.

My main concern is communal areas but our lovely neighbours regularly leave poo, wee, rubbish, spit etc in the lift and hallways so lets infect them it's not like anyone has ever taken any consideration of us and our needs.

I just don't know what to do for the best.
The country isn't on lockdown yet and the schools are still open, shops are open. Going to a big open field (bar the communal areas of the building to pass through) doesn't seem too bad.
I imagine dog walkers will still be walking their dogs.

Yabu- keep them in for the 2 weeks
Yanbu- take them to the local field to exercize

you are allowed out to open spaces and/or to walk the dog etc if self isolating. 1 hr per day

My understanding you are allowed out for outdoor exercise so long as you stay away from other people. I have taken my small DCs out on their bikes for a little while and taken care to stay well away from anyone else. Harder if you live centrally or in a built up area.

Where's the 1 hour guidance @lubeybooby, I hadn't seen that

What has your govt said about self isolation and taking the kids out?
Do that.

SquishySquirmy · 18/03/2020 15:51

I think you can.
We are self isolating, and dh drove somewhere isolated with the kids today and they ran around.
0 chance of spreading anything, but I was a bit paranoid someone would notice the car was missing from our drive! 😬
If we didn't have the car, I would consider going to somewhere like playing fields.

The difficulty would be in keeping them away from other kids if they were around - hard to explain to little ones especially when we're trying to protect them from the worry!

Thing is, if they make self isolating too horrendous for kids then it massively disincentives parents from doing the right thing when one family member may only have mild symptoms.

Oh well its nice to know others have taken their kids out. I agree with making it as easy as possible- I'm struggling on day 2.
