Glastonbury has been cancelled, first of the big festivals. Others will soon follow.

Sad ... but good!

Hope others follow their lead!

We've got tickets for the Isle of Wight festival, it's bound to be cancelled. I was very excited to have upgraded to a 'luxury' pod this year!
It's the sensible thing to do and should be done sooner rather than later to give us all a chance to get over the disappointment and get our money back.

Its going to be a boring fucking summer

So glad to hear this news this morning as are quite a few other locals, street, Glastonbury and shepton do not need hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country descending on us for over a week, it would not have been fair at all if it had gone ahead and a festival site is not the best place for hygiene at the best of times, without factoring in the virus.
The Glastonbury goers are like locusts in the shops here and every year you have to try and remember a week or so beforehand because they literally buy all the alcohol, sandwiches etc and tabbacco! Our shelves are pretty bare of everything right now, so it wouldn’t have helped!

Many people are going to have disappoints over the coming months, activity’s planned, days out, holidays, theatre, weddings etc which aren’t going ahead, we just have to accept its for the greater good.

Btw Glastonbury have said they will carry this years tickets over to next year.

This is really good news for the locals. I don't know what planet people are on when we are asking people to practice social distancing but then allowing thousands and thousands of people to stream into their area!

madcatladyforever · 18/03/2020 12:10

I live near Pilton where the festival is, it will destroy a lot of people who rely on the festival for a living or to boost their income once a year.
But there really isn't another option.

I should be heading down tomorrow. First world problems I know, but I'm really sad to miss it, I' e been going for years
