Separated from my DC

My DD is 7 and my DS is 4.
I have just heard from my ExH that his partner is ill and they are all self isolating for 14 days. The kids were due to come home to me today.

I am absolutely devastated that I'm going to have to be apart from them at this very uncertain time.
I know they will be looked after but I can't imagine not being with them for the next 2 weeks 😔

Thanks sorry to hear this, that will be hard.

I think many will end up being in this situation.

Maybe try use the 14 days to plan for when they come back, as schools may be closed by then so you could plan activities for them to do to keep you busy?

They'll be home before you know it I'm sure, just try keep yourself busy.

Aw that's awful, I'd be very upset too.

Can you video call every day?

Your exH is doing the right thing but I know that doesn't make it easier.

Teddypops · 18/03/2020 07:27

Can you take them anything to help them all through it, toys, games food etc?

midnightstar66 · 18/03/2020 07:32

Can't you go and get them by car and isolate at yours? I couldn't imagine that either! I'm actually worried exp tries this this weekend to try and keep hold of dc

Clymene · 18/03/2020 07:36

I'd get them back

ladymary86 · 18/03/2020 07:37

I've offered to take things if they need it and will be video calling them regularly.

I think you can go and get them so long as you would be prepared to isolate with them at your own house. Get a shop in and pick them up as usual. Works so long as anyone else who lives with you is prepared to do the same.

CircleofWillis · 18/03/2020 07:48

Who else lives with you? If it is just you or someone else who can also isolate I would go get them and isolate at yours.

ladymary86 · 18/03/2020 17:22

Just my partner and I at our home. ExH house has another 3 kids in addition to my DC.
Arrangements to regularly video call are already in place.
My biggest worry is that someone else in their house develops symptoms further down the line and the two week period becomes even longer.

If it were me I'd go get them and then self isolate with them at your house.

If your children don't have it then just the act of them being isolated with people you know are definitely ill will put them more at risk of catching it. I'd do as a previous poster said and go do a big shop and then pick them up and isolate together.
