Returning from maternity leave ...

I am currently on maternity leave, confirmed return in April but havent actually set date yet as my son was ill when i was meant to go in to discuss.

If my dcs schools close i wont be able to work. I dont know what to do for the best. Am i best of taking my 3 months additional unpaid maternity leave or agreeing a return date so i can get sick pay if we get ill? Do i even qualify for sick pay as been receiving maternity allowance?

Sorry I don't have any answers but I'm in a similar boat. Understandably I'm not a priority for my employers to make decisions about so I'm at a bit of a loss. Hopefully someone will be along with advice??

Honestly, I think I'd extend. It would give you the peace of mind that you could stay home rather than risk going to work, and you would continue to have the protection of maternity leave. You also wouldn't be settling the baby into a childcare setting (or relying on grandparents which isn't great ATM) only to take them back out once they close.

However, financially we would be fine on DH's salary.
