I have a small business (luxury retail) with business interruption insurance for notifiable diseases. I read that the government are making it a notifiable disease for insurance purposes.
From what I understand if I decide to close I forfeit any insurance payout?
The decision to close comes from a more personal feeling that I don't want to encourage people to avoid social distancing guidelines as I think we should all be doing our best to minimise the spread. So confused by it all and trying to work out what to communicate tomorrow.
Maybe any other small business owners might know more?
Also, it is worth checking your insurance, I had no idea I had that but had a look through today and my lovely thorough broker put it in there for me while I was panicking about breakages, alarms and public liability!
