When do we stop isolating?

So, family of 6.

Child A gets a cough. Everyone self isolates for 14 days.
Maybe it was CV, maybe it was normal cold. Who knows?

Come out of isolation, 2 days later child B gets a cough. Everyone back into isolation for another 2 weeks. This also proves to be a normal cold.

Leave isolation, grown-up 1 gets a cough...

How long do we keep doing this for?
I think I have supplies for 2 weeks, possibly, but we could be isolated for months?

(And we may or may not have had CV)

Obviously we'll all be locked down at some point, but...
Can anyone shed any light on my hypotheticals?
