If he goes when it is quiet and you are careful with hygiene then he should go and get as much in as possible and then look to do online shops once they are back on track and people aren't panic buying as much (if that ever happens).

I agree, go when it's quiet, wear gloves, and ask them to shower and change clothes when they return. Keep trips to an absolute minimum.
