Probably, if the government can find a way to get around the PIN issue, and training etc

MysweetAudrina · 17/03/2020 21:41

It's happening here in Ireland, retired and student nurses and doctors are being recruited atm.

FredaFrogspawn · 17/03/2020 21:43

The London Hospital my dc is a doctor in has full quota of doctors but desperate shortage of nurses. So maybe?

Borkins · 17/03/2020 21:43

I've been out of the profession many years but I was ITU trained

Maybe airline, catering and hospitality might want to join the nhs rather than be unemployed even on short term contracts. Hospitals and homes are always.short of staff and it would free up nurses and carers to look after patients instead of them cleaning the wards, serving food, and spending.time on non essential admin. They may already be trained in health and.safety and are used to working with the public. A lot of.retired hcp are now in the high risk group so may not want to put themselves or others at risk.

emergency bill going through tomorrow think it only mentions recently retired nurses though.

FredaFrogspawn · 17/03/2020 22:02

That’s the trouble with nursing, especially icu - it changes so much so quickly.

Floralnomad · 17/03/2020 22:08

I’m in a high risk group and left a few years ago , wild horses couldn’t drag me back . In my experience , and I left after a prolonged period of sickness , the NHS doesn’t give a toss about the health and well being of its staff so there is no way I could risk it now with all my current health issues - despite the fact that I’m extremely fit and healthy albeit dependant on medication .

Dontrainonmyparade · 17/03/2020 22:10

Well, I’m a current registered nurse but my current work is not in an acute setting and I applied to my local nhs trust bank at the weekend (I have a theatre/itu background albeit years ago now) and got a ‘sorry you have been unsuccessful in your application’ response within 24 hours. So I’m a bit Shock and wondering how shortsighted the trusts really are...
