I work in finance and the number of very wealthy clients who never stop ringing about their money going down is incredible. At a time when people are losing their jobs and live day to day and when people are losing their lives, I find it very distasteful when even if they lost 50% of their wealth they would still have over £0.5m left. Why are people so self centred? They took the risks, they should accept it when it goes down.

Not that surprised but it is depressing.

And it'll obviously go up again. It's always been a long term thing, hasn't it?

So what the fuck are you working in that industry for?

otterturk · 17/03/2020 20:16

They're calling to talk about their money. This is your job.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 17/03/2020 20:25

They pay your wages, don't they?

So do your bloody job and talk to them.

tenlittlecygnets · 17/03/2020 20:40

Well, if they only have £1 million on investments, that's not very wealthy.

And they are entitled to be worried about their money! Doesn't mean they're not worried about other aspects of cv.

If they're ringing you, is it your job to reassure them? Hope you're trying harder than you are on here!

SarahTancredi · 17/03/2020 20:44

Well they didnt get to have 1 million pounds without caring about their money did they.

If they didn't call you wouldn't have a job would you? Just cos someone's rich doesn't mean they didnt work bloody hard for that money and intend to keep doing so. Doesnt mean they dont care about anyone or anything else

DameXanaduBramble · 17/03/2020 20:46

God there are some rude shits on here at the moment.

Their investments may be the only thing they have for their old age. Not everyone has gold plated public sector pensions. A million doesn't go far - most GPs, doctors and dentists will have a pension fund more than that - are you whingeing about them too? Of course, they won't have to worry about the stock market crash. Virtually anyone with investments or a defined contribution pension fund will have lost a huge amount of money over the past few weeks which may throw their retirement plans into turmoil.
