I’ve heard lots about how kids can/can’t help the virus...
my 16m old today has had a runny nose & very very loose stools (6changes of clothes so far since 12)

Yes of course they can get it. Children seem to not be experiencing severe symptoms generally but certainly they can both get it and pass it on.

GrumpyHoonMain · 17/03/2020 18:43

They can get it and they can need ICU too but i think most countries tend to prioritize healthy children so they will be treated for as long as possible.

bemoreeverything · 17/03/2020 18:44

Yes they can but those are not symptoms

Loppy10 · 17/03/2020 18:45

Of course they can get it - if anything more likely to get it due to immature immune system. But less dangerous in kids as much of the damage is done by our immune system being driven into overdrive by the virus and damaging our own lungs which doesn't seem to happen as often in children. Plus as grumpy points out they will be much more aggressive about treating a child and pulling out all the stops whereas with an 85 year old in poor health they're less likely to. That could change once all ICUs start to get overwhelmed

A 9 month old baby has it, watched an interview on news app.

They are super spreaders.

BriefDisaster · 17/03/2020 19:19

Anyone can get it but every official source states clearly that a runny nose is not a symptom.

Still plenty of 'normal' colds about.

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 17/03/2020 19:57

Thank you for putting my mind at ease... I didn’t think it was a symtom as its the shortness of breath, cough & temperature. Just wanted to be sure... thank you xx

A runny nose can be a symptom in children if they have a cough or fever too.

Mumofoneandanotherontheway · 17/03/2020 22:52

grumpyhoon
