Hi,

I struggled to breastfeed DC1 and am worried about the same happening again with DC2 so wanted to have some formula in in case I struggle again or just decide I would prefer to formula feed.

However I have been to all the shops, tried online and can’t find any?

Really panicking. Does anyone know of any shops I can order from please?

Thank.

When are you due? I'd wait if your not due soon as I've seen lots of posts about mums crying in shops not being able to find milk for their babies. If you're due soon, I'd ask the shops when we get more stock in. I don't know of any reliable sites that sell baby milk so maybe someone else will have suggestions for that. Not knowing your previous situation, you could contact a lactation consultant to get advice on how you could prevent the previous problems you've had with breastfeeding, that's if you want to give bf a go again. Hope you can sort something out and try not to stress x

I think they're going to have to start rationing stuff tbh - you can't have new mums going without formula/nappies. Of course that would require Boris giving a shit, so it's doubtful. But he wanted his "Churchill moment" - this is it.

Hope you can get some at Boots, OP.

I was looking for formula today.

None of the bigger shops had it at all. But my local corner shop had plenty! (Even toilet rolls!)

I would try your smaller local shops first as that’s where I found mine.

When are you due OP?

A few years back there was a shortage of formula because a key ingredient across brands wasnt available.

People were panic buying left and right and selling on ebay for disgusting prices. Spent some time fucking up their auctions and profits.

Anyway after a few days supermarkets put restrictions on and as far as I remember ours were very strict with keeping on eye on families splitting up to do multiple transactions, returning later on to get round it etc. I remember seeing people being called out for it by staff members and made to adhere to the rules.

If you call the number on the back of a tub the companies are offering delivery of formula to you. I use cow and gate if you'd like their number?

This is awful. The government needs to step in when it comes to nappies and formula. What are mums doing that can't find any?

It showing the SMA at Boots out of stock

It was in stock when I linked. There are other (more expensive) newborn formulas available at Boots still. There are also other online chemists that stock baby formula (and seem to have stock in).

www.chemist.co.uk/mother-baby/feeding/formula/from-birth-stage-1.html

Depending on when you're due I wouldn't worry too much though? Chances are this will be a temporary blip in supply. I'm expecting that in 2 weeks' time once everyone has finished stockpiling stock levels will probably even back out again. Or the government will step in to assure supplies.

@itsamadmadworld Yes please that would be great.

@Tibblestoe I know, it’s really worrying.

@Curiosity101 Thank you for the link, I will look at the different brands.

Thank you to everyone that has replied. I felt so anxious last night but feeling more positive now. And sorry, due in a month.
