... I.e. after BJ announcement to stop non essential travel and contact?

For me, traffic was the same, attitudes are not changing. Eg my colleague “but it’s ok to take my mum shopping to a busy shopping centre this weekend isn’t it?”

Are the over 70s (IMHO shlould be over 60s) being more careful?

I don’t feel like people are taking this seriously, yet in today’s briefing, BJ obviously assumes it’s going to reduce cases.

A lot of older people don't have someone to get all their food and medicines for them. They will have to go to the shops if no one else is going for them.

For the first time my son got a seat on the tube today. All the pubs and restaurants were empty last night and today but the supermarkets etc were busy. I was surprised how many people were around. And builders at work and people driving around.

I was in Asda this morning and all Shoppers were discretely eyeballing others - I was trying to suppress a cough for fear of looking like I was infected! I suspect things were differNot at lunchtime though

I've not been out since Thursday but that's nothing new, I don't go out much anyway.

But I have noticed that there are no cars parked on my road. We live near a train station and it is used as a free carpark by workers in the week. And I can hear the birds singing which is lovely.

My in-laws are expecting to be told to isolate by the weekend so are stocking up tomorrow. It's possible you'll see more over 70's out and about this week for the same reason.

Yes, noticed changes for some time but really kicking in now. First day DP has worked from home and been told to do so indefinitely. Until yesterday his work were keen for people to be on site, not now.

Also noticed many more people wearing protective gear, using sanitiser, disinfecting things.

Shops were being emptied at the weekend, many customers in protective gear. We are trying to make only brief minimal trips to stock up. We are trying to drive to medical appointments where we would normally get the train. DP got train yesterday and said he did not feel comfortable, got off two stops early and now he is at home hopes not to have to get it.

Everyone I know who is over 70 or has high risk condition is isolating or gearing up to it. Some have been for weeks and they might save many lives having done that. Every single case of exposure and transmission counts. Right now we are in a phase we need to suppress madly to avoid immediate crisis in NHS care.

People I know who are younger and in not at risk groups are basically hunkering at home as much as possible. As of yesterday schools were cancelling after school events including parents evening and extra curriculars were stopping. Also social groups like U3A for older people suspending all meetings and activities. Libraries closing. Some shops closing.

Had lots of emails from companies I once ordered something from advising me of new hygeine precautions in packing etc.

I’ve been told at work that even though I am able to homework, I need to go in because we have a couple of people off sick and we’re too busy for me to homework😏

Personally I don’t think for myself these measures will make much difference, except for the over 70s following social distancing. While kids are going to school and many still going to work, the virus will be circulating. We’re definitely relying on the over 70s and other self isolators to stick to the instructions or it will have little effect.
