Normality returning in China?

DIYBother · 17/03/2020 17:43

Maybe a positive sign for us - life is starting to return to a state of normal in China. There has been a devastating effect on the economy and a lot of work will be needed to help overcome that, but the restrictions on people’s lives are being lifted and people are getting back to their usual routines.

This isn’t necessarily something which is going to stop life as we know it for months and months. It’s easy to believe the worst case scenario but the truth is we don’t really know, and it might be less awful than we expect.

Are you in China?

DIYBother · 17/03/2020 17:46

No, is that not obvious from my post...?

Just going by what has been said by those who are in China:-

Any good news welcome

Thank you so much for this - I'm really struggling to keep it together today so it's good to have some hope.

A friend of mine lives and works in Xian (he’s from the UK) and he says they’re slowly getting back to normal. He even went out for a pint with his friends recently, something he hadn’t done since lockdown began.

Yes hopefully this is a good step forward but could also be a disaster. If they relax the measures put in place the virus may begin to pick up momentum again. Fingers crossed.

Forgone90 · 17/03/2020 18:02

This for me is more important than what is currently happening here... if they can go back to normal and have no flare ups for the next few weeks then i think we can all hope that by the end of the summer this will be over...

if they start to have another wave then only herd immunity or a vaccine will stop this so will be a much longer process!

ScouseMar · 17/03/2020 18:02

Fingers crossed that the relaxing of the rules doesn't mean an increase in cases again 🤞🤞🤞🤞

DIYBother · 17/03/2020 18:10

Absolutely - hopefully they are really on it when it comes to preventing further cases.

I work for a multinational and I had a chat with a colleague in China today who told me that the lockdown had gone well and they were going back to the office next week. He had been WFH for 8 weeks

DIYBother · 17/03/2020 18:14

That’s so good to hear!
