Busy hairdresser is infecting everyone wwyd?

I can’t believe I’m writing this but advice needed please.
I live in a very small town and have today heard something very disturbing. A local hairdresser and her children have been in regular close contact with an ill family member who has actually tested positive. I know this woman personally and she really doesn’t care, she’s just carrying on as normal. Her children are in several extra curricular clubs mixing with people from surrounding towns/villages and are still going to school. She’s also frequent pub user (different pubs) and has said (amongst other idiotic things) that the whole thing’s a load of rubbish. She takes her kids to the pub too.
Most disturbing of all though, is that she’s a very, very busy hairdresser who deals mostly with the elderly. She’s her own boss so complaining isn’t an option. Her oldest ds was actually off school today with a cough and I personally witnessed him going in to her salon as well as a local shop. I presume he was in there all day but I don’t know this for a fact.
I’m not exaggerating when I say her clients are mostly elderly, I’d say it’s about 80%.
What on earth do I do with this knowledge? Bury my head and ignore?

She following the guidance, she’s working until she or her immediate family because symptomatic.

AntibacHero · 17/03/2020 16:59

Being in direct contact with with a confirmed case of CV19 then wandering out into the world is not following the guidelines!!

That's despicable OP. No words really. Sad

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 17/03/2020 17:01

Could you talk to you local public health dept or environmental health for advice?

HopelessLayout · 17/03/2020 17:01

The good thing about small towns is that everybody quickly knows everybody else's business.
Spread the word, particularly via those who have influence. Known gossips can be useful too.

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/03/2020 17:02

Get the word out on any local community sites (Facebook etc). Gossip/ word of mouth. Contact environmental health? What a terrible person (her).

DCOkeford · 17/03/2020 17:03

Agreed, she is following current guidelines.

she won't be able to claim on uniform of business insurance unless she is told to shut up shop.

Blame Boris and his 'Let's all pretend were on lockdown, without me actually having to do anything"

DCOkeford · 17/03/2020 17:09

any form of

What a spiteful post.

ellanwood · 17/03/2020 17:13

You could equally blame the after school clubs still open for business, the pubs still serving and the clients still booking appointments. She's one of many people in your area causing potential spread. Everyone is aware of the risks and makes their own decisions based on those risks. They are all pretty foolish to be continuing after yesterday's announcement.

Elllicam · 17/03/2020 17:14

She isn’t following advice if her son is off school with a cough and she’s still going about touching the elderly.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 17/03/2020 17:16

So.... you’re asking if someone who’s not sick should give up her livelihood?

If you don’t like the idea of this healthy, self employed hairdresser carrying on, just find another hairdresser. I’m sure you’ll enjoy slaughtering her online anyway. I find it’s the way of ‘small town, small mind’ type of folk

I didn’t say school clubs, I said extra curricular. All school clubs have been suspended but yes, I hear what you’re saying.

In Italy she could be prosecuted for murder or attempted murder if it was fond that she infected anyone

Riddikulusness · 17/03/2020 17:23

PeterPanGoesWrong
I didn’t say she was my hairdresser, I said I know her personally. Her attitude is disgusting. She chose to see the infected person (not elderly) and does have employees so could easily stay at home

MunaZaldrizoti · 17/03/2020 17:26

@Riddikulusness

Have you considered that she may not have any other choice? That if she stops working she may not be able to pay her Bill's or feed her kids?

MunaZaldrizoti · 17/03/2020 17:27

Stupid auto correct

Nquartz · 17/03/2020 17:30

@MunaZaldrizoti she shouldn't be spending all these hard earned cash down the pub should she

BillieEilish · 17/03/2020 17:35

Well, she would be arrested here (Spain)

What was wrong with the poster posting about small communities? They are rife with gossip and she is right. Nothing 'spiteful' about it.

EverythingChanges321 · 17/03/2020 17:36

What a silly selfish woman!
If someone who is one of her clients, contracts the virus and dies, she’ll have far more to worry about than just feeding her kids.
They’ll be a lynch mob after her.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 17/03/2020 17:37

I didn’t say she was my hairdresser
So, you’re saying someone you don’t really know who might or might not have been in contact with the virus (because we all know how fucking reliable the grapevine in villages is) should give up her income to suit you? O.k........

no wonder the world is tucked is there?

MunaZaldrizoti · 17/03/2020 17:38

@Nquartz

Maybe not. And if the government actually locked shit down she wouldn't be able to. Ultimately, depending on individual actions during a time like this is ridiculous.

mumwon · 17/03/2020 17:39

@MunaZaldrizoti peoples lives count more & the current advise is that if someone in the family has symptoms they whole family goes into lockdown - the subject is being talked about by current briefing on bbc & the help offered. What you seem to be suggesting is that old customers lives (& not so old) count less - thanks for that - I tell that to my friends shall I?

saraclara · 17/03/2020 17:41

She's been in contact with someone with the virus. Apparently by choice. She should have thought about her bills before she made that choice. As a hairdresser she's in very close contact for some time with those vulnerable old people. Are their lives less important than her bills? And if her son is coughing, he's symptomatic.

whatnow40 · 17/03/2020 17:44

If you believe someone isn't following guidelines and is risking public health, you can report this to Public Health England via 111. Select the option for Coronavirus and tell the call handler you want to report someone. You don't have to give your details if you don't want to.

HoffiCoffi13 · 17/03/2020 17:45

She’s not following current advice at all. Current advice is that the whole household must isolate for 14 days if a member has a cough or a high temperature. Her son has a cough.
What hope do we have if people aren’t reading the guidelines?
