Our school is closed from tomorrow onwards for year 9 only, open for rest.

Also if its closed is work being set?

Our school has sent some for English and investigating options.

Yes, DS is in primary school and it's still open. Plenty of kids still going in.

I live in a very industrialized factory town though and many people can't work from home so that might be why.

Ohdeariedear · 17/03/2020 14:44

Yes

lorisparkle · 17/03/2020 14:49

At least three of our local secondaries have partial closures. There will be many staff who fall under the 'higher risk' group so advised to stay at home coupled with those staff who are self isolating due to someone in their household being unwell. It is inevitable.

mymoonmyman2020 · 17/03/2020 14:50

Our school is still open but strong suggestions it will close very soon. Have heard of other local primaries closing.

Topseyt · 17/03/2020 14:51

Yes, open. However, from tomorrow only the years which will have exams soon will be going in. That will include my DD as she is in Year 13 and has A Levels soon.

There are plans in place to email work home at times and to allow students to join some lessons remotely via Facetime or Skype.

Drivemybluecar · 17/03/2020 14:55

Much to my 16 year old sons disgust yes they are. I have not even approached the subject that if they loose teachers they will try and keep his year at school.

WhatHaveIFound · 17/03/2020 14:57

Both my DC's school are open at the moment but it's increasingly looking like they might close on Friday.

DD is in Y13 so all lessons will be transferred to online when they close. She's been issued with a dress/conduct code for online lessons and they're having training tomorrow as they have to log into lesson live.

DS will be bringing all his books home today and just has to take in what he needs each day. Work will be set on Friefly when they close. Annoying they had a whole school assembly yesterday so nearly 800 children in one room!

KoalasandRabbit · 17/03/2020 14:58

Yes ours is to do with staffing levels but glad they are now protecting at risk staff. Almost all the families here have one parent at home and ones that don't it's two professional jobs which it's easier to get one wfh in.

One of the local secondary schools (we have 2) have announced due to staff shortages only years 7, 10 and 11 will be going in all week. Years 8 and 9 will be going in on rotated days.

PorpentinaScamander · 17/03/2020 16:12

Ds1s school is open to years 9-11 only.

Ds2s school is open to year 11 every day. then 7&10 and 8&9 on alternate days.

Although we are self isolating as ds1 has a new cough and cold.

H1978 · 17/03/2020 16:15

All open here too, dd1 and 2 both in secondary school, dd3 in yr 5 but kept her off from school this week due to slight cough but school have sent out homework packs to be opened in the event that school closes

DuckWillow · 17/03/2020 16:16

Yes and we are a special school too.

The HT doesn’t have the right to just choose to close apparently. ...so he explained this afternoon. Before he makes the decision it has to be agreed by the DoE and also the country council.

I am expecting us to remain open for the moment unless the Govt say otherwise.
