I'm currently under lockdown in France in a relatively big city. The measures came into effect at 12pm today and will last for at least two weeks... Feel free to ask any questions !

There is an editable pdf version of the attestation de déplacement and it's ok to have it on your phone.

DH went out to collect our online shopping order yesterday and I went to the baker this morning and no checks here, but we are in a small town with no cases. I expect a lot of gendarmes have been relocated to big towns, any controls here will be done by the handful of municipal police.

Based on almost zero traffic on my road (rat run heavily used at peak hours) there is widespread compliance even in low risk areas.

My husband's medical appointments have been cancelled (chronic neurological problems) but he asked for and was given a repeat prescription by his psychiatrist last week.

For those who take medicines regularly, pharmacists are now allowed to dispense one additional repeat after your repeat prescription expires, except for certain high risk medicines.

Also bakeries are now allowed to open 7/7 to reduce queues. Ours was quiet and well stocked this morning. My Drive (click and collect) order yesterday was mostly filled, with a handful of exceptions, so shortages are limited for the time being.

Most permitted businesses are remaining open here although I have heard that in some places small businesses are closing as owners or workers need to isolate. Not the case where I live, as cases are few and far between (2 in my département but a long way from my town).

Frenchfancy · 18/03/2020 12:20

That's good news about the pharmacies.

All quiet here. I gave dd the morning off as it is Wednesday. We are just pottering doing some little diy jobs around the house.

DH is working from the kitchen table. He's a teacher so he's doing lesson plans for his students.

@Shenandoah9 here in Germany, teachers are on the list of key workers for whom schools are open. And FWIW, I think it’s criminal that the UK gvt hasn’t thought of/announced that. Here, there was never any doubt that schools would remain open for medical people, police, teachers, and a whole list of other essential workers. It saved a lot of people a lot of worry.

GabsAlot · 18/03/2020 13:30

they havent annoucned it balloons because schools arnt shut yet

pluiedeprintemps · 18/03/2020 14:01

Gouv has just confirmed that an electronic version of the form is no longer accepted - it must be a paper copy

pluiedeprintemps · 18/03/2020 14:03

Also - women will now be able to renew the contraceptive pill with no prescription at pharmacies.

pluiedeprintemps · 18/03/2020 14:06

Also - the first bottles of hand sanitizer made by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesey) in their perfume factories have started arriving in hospitals - It's a nice bottle !

How are older and vulnerable people getting their supplies etc? In the UK there are a lot of FB groups organising informally to run errands for those who can't get out - is this type of thing allowed or has something more official been organised?

MickeyMouae199 · 18/03/2020 14:55

@LangClegsinSpace Helping older and vulnerable people is allowed

(It is one of the boxes that we can tick on the form to go out)

GabsAlot · 18/03/2020 14:56

MickeyMouae199 · 18/03/2020 14:57

stay safe

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/03/2020 15:00

Misti I skip read your post and thought the form was edible Grin

I love that LV are doing hand sanitiser! They only started production a few days ago so I'm impressed it's available already. Brew Dog brewery in Scotland are starting similar.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 18/03/2020 16:12

@pluiedeprintemps - that's ridiculous, on line pdfs, or similar, are surely the way to go? (Remembering when Minitel was the French way of communicating whilst the ROW had the world wide web.)

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 18/03/2020 16:15

Sorry, plus, who knows (at the risk of sounding paranoid) whether pieces of paper may contain the virus?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 18/03/2020 16:16

Feck, and apologies if that sounded as if I were shooting the messenger, @pluiedeprintemps Grin

pluiedeprintemps · 18/03/2020 16:36

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom
Pas de souci!

I think it is because if you have an electronic version you can fill it out if you see police when they pull you over to check it ... not really sure of the reasoning though.

Are you also in France ?

iloveredwine · 18/03/2020 16:57

Silent pool gin are doing hand sanitizers now too

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 18/03/2020 17:54

@pluiedeprintemps - no, I'm in the sand-pit, in a country where there is no lock down as such, but where nurseries and schools closed a while ago and where the airports are closed to flights arriving from many infected countries. Also, places of worship now closed for fear of contagion. My only child will not be visiting us from the UK for Easter; I am devastated, but it's best for the common good, I know. Many people here seem to be self-isolating of their own volition.
I still have some family in France but unfortunately, lost contact with them decades ago. France is in my blood, too! We had the Marseillaise played as I went down the church aisle in England many years ago!
Best wishes to everyone.

pluiedeprintemps · 18/03/2020 18:17

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom
Bon courage.

God speaks to each of us as he makes us,
then walks with us silently out of the night.

These are the words we dimly hear:

You, sent out beyond your recall,
go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me.

Flare up like a flame
and make big shadows I can move in.

Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Don’t let yourself lose me.

Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its seriousness.

Give me your hand.

How are the elderly without family or close neighbours nearby coping.

Angryrant55 · 18/03/2020 18:32

Also how do people handwrite it properly without a computer screen - are the exact words allowed on tv.
