What to do with savings?

Just wondering what steps people are taking, if any, to try to protect any savings against inflation which seems extremely likely?

We’ve been saving every penny we can to either convert our loft or move to a bigger house as we have disabled twins and our house currently isn’t suitable as they get bigger. We’ve managed to save more than the equivalent of a years joint income which is obviously a lot to us. I am wary of all the sacrifices we have made being for nothing if there is a high level of inflation. Then again, if we lost our jobs we need to be able to access that money so I’m also wary of it being inaccessible or having to take a large hit to access it.

(Sorry, I know a lot of people are really struggling right now and this is a very nice problem to have so I do apologise if this upsets anyone).
