So it’s day 2 working from home...

My office phone won’t plug in properly and my internet keeps crashing

The stay at home dad upstairs is playing ‘lion king’ with his little girl, again. This involves him singing the first line at the top of his lungs then chasing her around the flat as she screams. I think they are both wearing tackety boots. They did this all day yesterday, pausing only for a Frozen singalong.

The seagulls are going crazy outside my window for some reason.

I have a very large pack of teabags and a mountain of oatcakes, so I’m ok for sustenance.

Happy St Patrick’s day everyone.

Oh and DS is being sent home after lunch today (well they all are) so that the school can ‘have meetings’!

What a brilliant dad Grin

Day 1 for me, though I haven’t got all the office kit yet, so working off my ancient laptop.
I’ve actually got a reasonable amount of work to do but I’ve added in an hour of online training as it’s something I never get round to normally.

In other news, all my cushion covers have been washed and my dining room, which will be my office, has never been so tidy.

I’m planning daily Yoga with Adrienne and to lose half a stone. I’m less optimistic about both of these.

I’m planning eating chocolate biscuits with MrPaw (also homeworking) and gaining (at least) half a stone...

Day 3 catching up on Corrie and eating cheese !

SybilWrites · 17/03/2020 11:50

Well the dogs won't stop barking as they're so excited I'm here. I had a zoom call with Important People which was heavily punctuated by the dogs barking.

I've eaten all the Tony Chocolonely supplies already

(and I'm now on mumsnet…. )

Day 5.

My eye is twitching as Lion King Dad has just not stopped... He is singing it right now as they jump up and down.

The dad downstairs is now at home with his 3-year-old. He particularly enjoys standing on the balcony yelling and encouraging her to yell too. They are shouting right now 'is anyone there?' (in french). At least he isn't yelling at his poor wife (we think he is a horrid man - but he doesn't ever yell at the child)

I am going slowly, slowly quite mad.

🎶 The wheels on the bus go round and round...🎶 they have not stopped all day. He has also given her a swanee whistle.

I am about to cut my ears off. Oh it’s twinkle twinkle little star now. When upstairs stops, downstairs starts.

I am going mad.

I'm due to start Monday.

Working from home with a 5yo and an 8yo with a ton of their own work to go through. DH will be at his work, doing the same with other people's children Grin

I may throw the dc at him when he gets home and take a nightly bubblebath.

Fizzypoo · 20/03/2020 20:48

You need noise cancelling headphone op.

I'm bored at home and resentful that I'm working while dp and DC are having a lovely time chilling out.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/03/2020 22:14

I can’t wear headphones all day!

Upstairs child starts whinging anytime from 5:30am (they let her yell for a bit) and they (upstairs and downstairs) both finally get off to bed by 9pm (later if they have visitors). Blimey they are noisy! Are dads noisier at entertaining their children than mums (both stay at home dads)?

I’ve lost count - day 7?

What time is reasonable to go around and tell at the neighbours to shut the hell up after my usual 6am wake up call of ‘mummy mummy mummy MUMMY MU-MEEEEEEE!’ that goes on for 20 minutes.

They are still jumping up and down (literally - they are above us). It’s only a matter of time before he starts with the Lion King - song, roar, squeals, running up and down, more squealing, yelling and reading, child falls down, much crying. Every day.

The man downstairs just yells all day - not angry just one of those really loud voices. Now he is singing.

Where’s my ukulele...?
