"People will take the piss" - self-isolation

Remember all those anguished posts a few weeks ago about people very worried that (other) people (obviously not them) would take the piss by claiming to be ill in order to self-isolate when they weren't? I've even seen posts today saying that people could claim to have a temperature just for time off work.

As far as I can see the major problem has been the exact opposite - people soldiering on and going about their business with coughs and fevers.

Can I just say that if you're one of the people who automatically assumed people would start lying to get time off, you're part of the problem? You're the reason WHY people won't take time off when they need it? You're the reason why people won't want to self-isolate.

Hopefully in the future we'll learn to stop automatically being suspicious and accusatory when people call in ill.

the shirkers where i work are showing themselves

the usual suspect said he felt unwell.....told him to ring 111 to find out if he should self isolate

he came back within 10 mins to say yes, they have told him he's symptomatic and should isolate for 7 days

so 111 answered within 10 mins did they? no way

his social media account will give him away though
