I know IABU to post in the wrong place.

I put this in the CV section but no one is about in there. Please help if you are there please say hello, please hug me.

I’m struggling and have no one I can say that to irl. Self isolation day 2. Now realise definitely only have a cold but am coughing so have to self isolate. I may be able to work from home which would be great, we’ll see.

Soo lonely - live alone MH is suffering. Also know that there won’t be anywhere to go/people to physically meet when it’s over. I know MN is here. Leaving Samaritans and NHS alone, there is enough to deal with.

Sending a hug.

Do you have any hobbies you can do at home?

RickSanchez · 17/03/2020 09:53

A hug here

RickSanchez · 17/03/2020 09:56

I was literally just saying to DH that my concern is that beyond the obvious threat of the virus, that people's mental health is going to really begin to falter. Most people I know who are self employed stand to lose everything, holidays and anything we might have looked forward to is cancelled for the foreseeable and now we are going to be isolating from our nearest and dearest. All this is a recipe for disaster but I have no sensible alternatives.

I just hope that people continue to check in with those that are vulnerable and that this 'I'm alright Jack' attitude that I'm seeing now is not catching!

TwirlyWitch · 17/03/2020 09:57

Hug here too.

ThisIsntDanicaBritannica · 17/03/2020 09:57

Yanbu! I usually go to the gym 3/4 times a week, and go to a service connected with mental health once a week, it all helps to keep me going. I'm lucky I have dh and dd though.
The good old tinternet is definitely a lifeline at the moment.
I feel your pain Op, have a (hug) from me.

ivfbabymomma1 · 17/03/2020 09:59

Massive hugs! Your not alone! X

novacaneforthepain · 17/03/2020 09:59

Giant hug from me, I am suffering too

Isthistrueor · 17/03/2020 10:00

My MH depends on being able to go to work, attend baby groups on my days off, being able to leave the house and get fresh air generally but I will have to ‘self isolate’ from Monday for 12 weeks because I’m pregnant. I’m fucking devastated, it’s so so shit.

Huge hugs OP, you’re not alone Flowers.

Frost1nMay · 17/03/2020 10:07

Hi hi,

you are not alone! online forums are a great way to keep in touch and what about starting an online fitness routine? You tube is full of them.

novacaneforthepain · 17/03/2020 10:15

@Frost1nMay great idea. I didn't even consider this as I'm not thinking straight.

mbosnz · 17/03/2020 10:23

Hey there, big hug from me.

What's the weather like where you are? I found getting into the garden in the sun a huge boost to my mental health. But of course, you need the sun. . .always in such abundance here, lol.

What sort of things do you like to do? Are you an active relaxer, or a 'snuggy up with a blanket and a book' type?

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 17/03/2020 10:27

Morning OP
A big hug from me too. What are you going to do today?

Icare1234 · 17/03/2020 10:30

I didn’t know there were online things. One app I’ve used in the past is a habits app, so tick off when you do things. Maybe currently- read some fiction, got dressed up and about, did prayers, did physio exercises. Some are free or free for a few habits, or maybe I could just make my own

Sending hugs. It's tough but it will pass.

There are lots of at home workouts you can do. If you have ingredients, home baking is a lovely way to pass the time. Having talk radio or podcasts on helps a lot with the feeling of being cut off. Youtube is a good source of guided meditation exercises.

Steer clear of booze and junk food and try to limit the "bad news" intake to just one or two info updates from somewhere like bbc. If you're constantly refreshing various news apps it can seem like the world is ending (I'm guilty of this).

borage13 · 17/03/2020 10:35

Hello hello. I'm in SI with my son. I'm also certain it's a cold/ hay fever but as we both have a sporadic cough we can't risk it. It's a novelty now; it won't be tomorrow.

Courage. PM me if you'd like to talk. Xx

Onemorehitandillcrumble · 17/03/2020 10:37

👋🏻

How do you feel physically? If you are not feeling too rotten it could be the perfect opportunity to reorganise your wardrobe, batch cook for when you are back at work/busy, master the basics of a new language maybe?

Splitsunrise · 17/03/2020 10:38

Is it a dry or a productive cough?

MinkyWinky · 17/03/2020 10:47

Sending you a hug. It is hard.

If you have access to YouTube and feel up to some gentle exercise try Yoga with Adrienne. There are lots of different options. The Headspace App also do free intro sessions to meditation.

There are also online courses you can do if you’re feeling up to it. Google Digital Garage has some of digital marketing if it’s something you’re interested in. They would keep your mind busy if nothing else.

Cissyandflora · 17/03/2020 11:00

You’re definitely not alone. It’s a horrible time and people’s mental health is going to suffer. Do try to find some interesting hobbies online if possible and use this forum to chat. I hope you’re ok.

Flev · 17/03/2020 11:32

Have a look on your local Facebook to see if local groups are being set up. We now have a street WhatsApp group which is growing fast, and people are happy to make friendly phone calls where wanted.

Fluffybutter · 17/03/2020 11:33

Lots of us here you can talk to Flowers

Windyatthebeach · 17/03/2020 11:35

KnitFastDieWarm · 17/03/2020 11:40

Do you have any hobbies? I’m a knitter and crocheter and it’s a lovely productive thing to do. Loads of videos online to help you learn and you could order some stuff in online to get started.
This is crap, but we’ll get through it x

Icare1234 · 17/03/2020 11:51

Found out I’ll be able to which will give structure to my day.

Oakmaiden · 17/03/2020 11:52

@KnitFastDieWarm

I am eyeing up my fabric stash and wondering if I should perhaps add to it a bit so I have plenty to do if it comes to it.

But I play computer games/read/use social media a fair bit, so I can see myself being busy if I am not allowed to go out. I know lots of people don't have these things.

I am also playing with the idea of planting some veg in my garden...
