Gyms -refunds / concessions

With the latest advice regarding distancing and isolation, have any raised with their gym or heard from them re their membership charges during this period?

I have a DH with a serious underlying condition so have to follow the guidance strictly, I can’t see me using the gym in months to come ( which is a huge shame as it is a massive stress release)

I understand they probably won’t suspend memberships fees entirely but do you think they will offer a concession? I’m with David Lloyd so they have an extremely onerous 3 month cancellation period and I’m paying over £100 a month.

I was wondering about this too

I'd imagine they'll use the fact they haven't been officially forced to close as a reason to keep the charges. They're still open, you could still go, you're choosing not to (I'm saying that might be their argument, it's not mine!)

You can suspend your David Lloyd membership for up to 3 months I believe. Many of my friends have already done this and I have enquires via email this morning.

I’m going to contact mine to see if we can freeze

TooManySocks · 17/03/2020 08:03

I'm going to email mine to ask.

Anyone had responses from David Lloyd? I couldn’t find anything on their website.

Youngatheart00 · 17/03/2020 08:14

I have just emailed. They make it very difficult to contact them via their website, their stupid form seems to have a ridiculously low character limit or doesn’t work.

I’ve found an email address I used last year to set up my membership [email protected] (where CLUB is the name of your club e.g Plymouth)

I’m giving them until lunchtime to respond to my email and then I’m going to ring.

DH is pure gym and for them it’s just cancel
Direct Debit. Nice and easy. Whereas with David Lloyd you pay a fortune, then get ignored.

I have emailed mine (council run) to see if they would freeze the membership. If they won't, I'd like to see them providing online workouts or similar.
