Aargh what the heck would you do? Lack of testing means so much uncertainty!

Currently self isolating. But feel ridiculous about it in a way as not even convinced anyone in the house has CV. I started feeling really unwell last Weds (fatigue, headache) and developed very mild and infrequent cough with dry tickly cough on Saturday. No temperature. DH got a temperature on Friday that lasted 12 hours, no other symptoms. Kids both have cough that started at weekend, more persistent than mine but not continuous as such and sounds wet. No temperatures.

To clarify, we will self isolate for as long as needed, but with symptoms that don't add up, we've no idea on when to start the isolation from. Not sure ANY of us conclusively have CV as between us we either have had only a mild cough or only a temperature. But which symptoms should we be classing as the start of it and do we each self isolate for 7 days from the onset of our individual inconclusive symptoms or 14 days from when I started being ill?!

This is INSANE. If we could be tested it would solve the problem. I imagine so many people are in our position and won't be self isolating at all. We have no way of knowing if we'll be immune after this so when isolation ends if one of the kids starts coughing again, it will mean another isolation for all of us! Again, happy to do whatever to protect the vulnerable, but if everyone is doing what we're doing the country will be on its knees surely??

Should add, kids have also been sneezing, so my head says it's likely only a cold!

Problem with testing in this situation is that it only tells you about that moment in time.

So if I got tested right now, self isolate till result comes in and it's negative.

Do you stay home, safe in the knowledge you don't have it, or do you go out? As soon as you leave the house and start touching anything, spending time near people you could get infected. You would need to test after every outing, fully clean everything in the house that you touch/breathe on and self isolate till results came in to be sure you have accurate results.
