To be convinced I’ve had the virus

About 4 weeks ago all my family got ill. I had a bad cough for about 5 days that left me breathless & I had to use DS’s ventolin to try and clear my chest. No real temperature or fever.

DS had an asthma attack after 4 days of coughing and wheeze. DH was off work I’ll with it too- bad cough.

Is it possible that we’ve had it?

I just posted about this today. DD had the strangest "flu" I've ever seen her with back in January. The fever! It put her in hospital. I'm only just connecting the dots as I read more experiences of it. Frightening.

For me it was this feeling of not being able to clear my chest & cough for about 7 days. Not seriously ill but my chest was really bad

I know several people who’ve said this and there have been a couple of long threads about it but the general consensus is that it wasn’t the same thing because even if the timeline is slightly out in terms of when the first cases in China took place versus when they were reported, we would have seen an earlier spike in UK admissions to hospital had Coronavirus been here long prior to the first reported cases here.

Boyfriend and I also wonder if we’ve had it, but that’s largely because we think we caught it in Thailand in early January from friends we stayed with there who had travelled widely through China in December: they had coughs, fever and breathing problems bad enough that they went to hospital, and we had similar albeit less severe symptoms shortly after we returned to the UK. Still can’t be sure though.

It’s not impossible you had it but unfortunately I think it’s wishful thinking unless you travelled to a hotspot earlier this year.

DS ended up in hospital with his asthma though

I think it sounds like you had it. Hope so really as then hopefully you'll be immune.
