When do we need to self isolate to?

DD1 and I developed symptoms on Thursday, DD2 Friday and DH on Saturday. Are we self isolating until this Saturday as that is a week from when the last person started symptoms or do we need to isolate until the Saturday afterwards - 2 weeks from the last person developing symptoms?
I just can’t work it out. Thanks

2 weeks from the last person showing symptoms as per my understanding

Gerbi1 · 17/03/2020 05:58

I think it’s two weeks from what Boris said last night

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:02

From my understanding of their fucked up way of explaining it, 2 weeks from the date the first member of the household developed symptoms - so two weeks from last Thursday.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:03

Although, they also seem to suggest that the first person to get it only needs to self isolate for 7 days from getting symptoms.
They made absolutely zero sense today.

Jackrusselsarecute · 17/03/2020 06:05

I think 2 weeks from the last person showing symptoms. I hope you're all ok?

dementedpixie · 17/03/2020 06:08

I thought it was 7 days for the person with symptoms and 14 days for those without symptoms as they would be in the incubation period

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:09

They seemed to be saying 7 days if you have symptoms, with anyone in the household without symptoms isolating for 14 days from when the one person first developed symptoms.
As I said, it made the sum total of zero sense.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:11

dementedpixie Yup, that's what I heard too - which makes no sense.
It's assuming nobody else in the household apart from one develops symptoms.
My understanding though, would be that anyone WITH symptoms, should be isolating for 7 days from starting symptoms.
They really need to properly explain what shite they were on about.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:13

Even that contradicts itself. It's 14 days if you're not the first to develop symptoms, but then it's only 7 days from when you develop symptoms.
*Mind boggles.

Can I ask some advice?
My son (5) had a temperature last night or 38.9. He was flushed and wasn't himself at all. His temperature this morning is fine although he's clearly not well. Woken up excessively early and "starving hungry".
To isolate or not to isolate?

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:15

Grace - advice is for you to isolate for 14 days and him for 7 days from my understanding of their poor advice.

Hamster1111 · 17/03/2020 06:17

@AmazingGrace16 I would follow the self isolation rules. He has/had one of the specific symptoms. Children can get it mildly according to reports.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:18

Hamster - it would be helpful if we could make head or tail of their 'rules'.

Hamster1111 · 17/03/2020 06:22

Agreed it is confusing. Angel asked to isolate or not.. whatever the interpretation, isolation is necessary for a temp. My understanding is the same as yours, 7 for the symptomatic person and 14 for the rest of the household.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:26

Reality is though that people simply cannot immediately self isolate. You are going to have to go to shops as you can't get grocery deliveries for love nor money these days. So people are going to need paracetamol, food, etc. AmazingGrace will presumably find it hard to not leave the house now for 14 days. I certainly couldn't self isolate from today with no notice whatsoever for 14 days.

dementedpixie · 17/03/2020 06:27

That page contradicts itself too

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:28

They're bringing in shit with no notice whatsoever or time to prepare.
If they told us a week ago - ok - go and stock up now, because it's likely that a lot of you will be required to stay at home for 14 days very soon, then we might be somewhat prepared.
I have no food in. I can't get a food delivery and I don't have a car, so I have to do daily trips to shops which involves a bus journey there and back.

turdtimelucky · 17/03/2020 06:30

Italians apparently will be fined if they don't have a certificate explaining why they're out and about. I'd love to know where they get the certificates lol - surely that means a trip somewhere in the first place to get it?

ExchangedCat · 17/03/2020 06:31

14 days from first person getting ill. Anyone else who gets a fever or cough during the 14 days begins a 7 day timer from their first symptom

Selfsettling3 · 17/03/2020 06:32

@turdtimelucky they write he certificate themselves!

One section says this:

if you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill

Next section says:

for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14-day
isolation period
