Making your own hand gel?

Mine has run out today. I know that anti-bac gel isn't great, but I do need some for my commute. I wash my hands as soon as I get to work, but I touch several buttons, poles, doors, etc. before then.

How can I make my own? I have all the normal stuff like Fairy liquid, water, little plastic bottles, etc.

Wear gloves until you get to work?

You need some surgical spirits. That's 70% alcohol. Fill 90% of your little bottle with that and the remaining 10% of your bottle with aloe vera gel or even normal hand cream. Give it a good mix. Overall that will give you a mixture that's 63% alcohol. They recommend over 60% to kill the virus.

Thanks for this. Sadly, I can't find surgical solution anywhere! Is there an alternative I can use? Smile

The virus isn’t absorbed through your skin. Just don’t touch your face until you have washed your hands.

Nothing really helpful, but please don't use methylated spirits in anything you may find. There's a video or two floating around on social media with meths as an ingredient. Methanol should go nowhere near the skin as it can be absorbed and also produces fumes that shouldn't be breathed in
