Surely a Universal Basic Income is something for the government to seriously consider?
I'm no expert but how on earth will the DWP cope with the avalanche of people needing help now, they can't even cope with processing information for the average number of people applying for benefits or changing their circumstances on a good day?
People are now fucked. Many, many people.
People who:
Work in the Entertainment/leisure industries will have no work.
Are in the vulnerable category and can't self isolate and work at the same time.
Work in a job such as teaching, care work, php, so at high risk of catching the virus, but have vulnerable people in their household who rely on them for care - children, elderly, disabled etc.
People on zero contract hours, self employed people with no savings.
The list goes on. How is Boris going to ensure these people don't starve or at least end up in an inordinate amount of arrears.
