Describe your early cough

I’ve seen lots of posts today about the cough. I’ve only coughed a couple of times - do I self isolate etc.
So I thought it might be helpful if those who think they’ve had it/got it describe their early symptoms.

Disclaimer- I don’t have a cough just curious and trying to be helpful

Mine came suddenly although I felt like I had a chest infection without the cough for a few days before.

MrsPMT · 16/03/2020 20:44

On my first day, coughing so much I felt breathless and my chest hurt.

MrsPMT · 16/03/2020 20:46

Haven't had CV confirmed but have been self-isolating

FrangipaniBlue · 16/03/2020 21:04

I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and I've a sharp pain in my back between my shoulder blades that's like an indigestion type pain.

Hurts to cough both in my chest and my throat (like coughing has made my throat raw?)

This all started today after a couple of days of just feeling like my asthma was playing up.

DS has shown symptoms since Friday.

ginandnappies · 16/03/2020 21:05

I'm self isolating now. For a few days I've had a heavy chest but that happens when I'm anxious so brushed it off. Now I'm coughing not often but when I do it's really intense and I can't catch my breath .

crummyusername · 16/03/2020 21:08

Any more? DS has a cough as if he’s clearing his throat. No other symptoms yet, don’t know if it’s CV but strongly suspect it. I’ve got very occasional tickly cough and chest feels a little tight. Def not uncontrollable. How does that compare?

SheldonSaysSo1 · 16/03/2020 21:15

I had a sore chest for a few days, like above felt like a chest infection with no cough. I then woke up with a dry cough which is now slightly chesty 48 hours later. I am still suffering with chest pain and cough anywhere from every few minutes to every 15 minutes.

tiredofbeingalone123 · 16/03/2020 21:21

@FrangipaniBlue gah this is exactly how I'm feeling like my asthma is playing up and now I've got a controllable cough where I feel like clearing my throat a lot

FrangipaniBlue · 16/03/2020 21:32

@tiredofbeingalone123 I feel fuzzy headed too if that makes sense? A bit like I'm tipsy drunk?

This is pretty much how I felt when I started with pneumonia so I'm not looking forward to the next few days Sad

Forfoxsake29 · 16/03/2020 21:39

Mine started with a major sore throat. I thought I had strep throat!

Now coughing, it feels like a tickly cough. Chest feels tight sometimes/short of breath.

It’s annoying me 😩

Mashedpotatobutty · 16/03/2020 21:40

Hope you all recover soon. I’m finding this really helpful so thank you for sharing

@FrangipaniBlue I really hope you feel better ASAP

EggysMom · 16/03/2020 21:42

I'm tipsy drunk but that's alcohol related so I probably couldn't tell Gin

My DH is currently self isolating as of Saturday with a temp (now coming down) and a constant cough (dry, hacking, pretty much can't finish a sentence without coughing, has been waking himself up at night with it). Also he's been short of breath and his breathing sounds a little wheezy. It's concerning because he normally never gets ill and I've never seen him like this. He's totally miserable.

As per today's revised guidelines it looks like the whole house is self isolating now, although my almost two year old has only a mild cough and no temp and I have zero symptoms so far.

But it's important to add that we have no idea if it's actually covid-19 or just a seasonal bug. All we can do is try to protect others by following the government guidelines and be very grateful that we are in a position to do so because we are both still getting paid while off work.

DD (age 3) has a dry cough that isn't constant but bad in the morning and at night, with coughing fits in the day - as though she can't catch her breath. She otherwise seems completely fine, no fever and doesn't seem to be uncomfortable. It could just be a normal cough but she's been off nursery since Friday and it looks like we all have to self isolate now.
