Anyone else pregnant and now thinking wtf am I meant to do? I've felt OK about it all as thought low risk, even GP said no special concerns, and now talk of 12 week isolation. I could greet!!

All midwife appointments have been cancelled in my trust
I’m not too sure what I should be doing if anything
I’m classed as high risk and have another 9 weeks to go

@Sunnydays60 I’m not self isolating but social distancing, with my work I go round supermarkets doing work in them, it’s recommended that pregnant women work from home which obviously I can’t do so I’m on sick pay at the moment and off work. Pregnant women are now in the at risk along with over 70s etc. My work said they’ll review it after the two weeks but I am worried as it’s not like the virus will be gone by then and will still be at risk of getting it. Just wondering when we will get any more information on what’s happening as it wasn’t very clear.

@NemophilistRebel that's scary I am consultant led due to family history my midwife said on Friday currently the children's centre is still open but if it closes before my app this Friday she will do home visits as need to take bloods check urine.
Obviously I'm glad to still be getting the care as in third trimester I don't want them missing something vital but equally v nervous as she will of been in contact with loads of people and also going to hospital for a scan on 31st

@Emmy2020
Then if you're getting sick pay when not sick, your employer seems to be doing something they've not been advised to do anyway. If you are only social distancing you'd still be expected to be at work like the rest of the population. Yes you're pregnant but, like the rest of the at risk (but not highest risk - there's a difference) group, the government have said absolutely nothing about what to do if you can't work from home... other than employers should take precautions for you... and they have not outlined what these might include...

From what I have read on a legal advice platform, if you are an nhs worker or work in a supermarket you can try to argue that you are at greater risk there than in the outside world and therefore are eligible for medical suspension (look up regular health and safety recommendations for pregnant women) which would be full pay not sick pay (so you might like to talk to your employer about that... after all if you're anywhere between wk 17 and 25 it could affect your SMP to be getting SSP). This would not apply to any other jobs though (although I would argue maybe teaching at this point too as it would mean prolonged exposure to the children?!).

@NemophilistRebel
That's worrying. When I spoke to my midwife on Friday where I am she said they were doing appointments by phone where they could but hospital scans would still stand. She also said appointments where they have to take blood would be offered over the phone and you would be offered the chance for your blood to be taken at a different time (so that it limited exposure - get the taking bit out of the way!). It may have changed by now but I hope that might turn out to be the same for you? At my 16 wk appointment though she said it would just be over phone as the urine test isnt as necessary (but I suspect it runs more risk of infection anyway - quite hard to pee accurately in a pot!). X

mrssunshinexxx · 22/03/2020 13:42

@Sunnydays60 the urine test is necessary if you have a high risk pregnancy or are consultant led and they are looking for things cropping up on your urine x

Sunnydays60 · 22/03/2020 14:50

@mrssunshinexxx
I'm not any of those luckily so probably why they told me it wasn't necessary. Obviously different for everyone. I hope those that do need the tests will be able to give their samples like the booking bloods my midwife talked about.

Sprintfinish · 30/03/2020 21:31

How are the pregnant ladies out there getting on? Has anyone been to any appointments or scans recently? My next one is in 3w for scan and bloods, trying not to think what things will be like then!
