Anyone else pregnant and now thinking wtf am I meant to do? I've felt OK about it all as thought low risk, even GP said no special concerns, and now talk of 12 week isolation. I could greet!!

Am 36 weeks so probably going to be in labour during the peak of the curve.

Fucking typical, I could not have made this up! 🤣 (i have to laugh else I'm just going to cry)

GrumpyHoonMain · 16/03/2020 19:05

My guess is because the first pregnant woman (and newborn) with CV happened in the UK there is significant research underway. I would bet that by putting pregnant women into the ‘at risk group’ the authorities can ensure there are tests available if needed.

@NemophilistRebel pregnant women are in the same category as over 70s but the advice isn’t to socially isolate for 12 weeks it’s to avoid social gatherings and take extra precautions. Not particularly clear but as I understand that’s not the same as full on social isolation staying at home alone (although I imagine that will happen at some point) happy to be corrected if I’ve misunderstood

KatnissMellark · 16/03/2020 19:09

It is unclear. Definitely the importance of social distancing was emphasized for pregnant women. Some outlets are reporting pregnant women to be advised to stay home for twelve weeks some unclear

Due in a 6 days here and overly anxious i'm having panic attacks😥 the anxiety has just been increasing more each day. Although it's just precaution to include pregnant women in the group, i'm also thinking of the hospital atmosphere and the quality of care.. especially if there is any issues with birth, my first was a rather traumatic experience. I just want to give birth NOW so we can stay indoors before it gets worse
I've kept my dd off nursery as they sent out a letter advising to keep kids home if they have any cold/fever symptoms and she had a temperature that went after a day.. this was two weeks ago now, but as i'm on maternity and nursery isn't compulsory i'm making do...

Hand hold for all other mumsThanks

cptartapp · 16/03/2020 19:10

Pregnant women are immunosuppressed by the very fact they're pregnant. That's why they're offered the flu jab.

chantico · 16/03/2020 19:10

Such evidence as exists suggests that pregnant women are not at additional risk (in the same way as zika or rubella). But infectious diseases and pregnancy are generally a bad mix, especially when there is fever.

So they have decided to err on the side of caution. They would rather be castigated for overkill, than be responsible if it does turn out to be more harmful than currently believed.

Chefwifelife · 16/03/2020 19:16

Pregnant women have been told to stay at home for 12 weeks.

Mr Johnson said: "By this coming weekend it will be necessary to go further and to ensure that those with the most serious health conditions are largely shielded from social contact for around 12-weeks."

AmputatedSoul · 16/03/2020 19:17

I'm 34 weeks and also have an autoimmune disease.
I have a consultant appointment tomorrow and will be asking all the questions hoping they'll know the answers.
No idea what I'm meant to be doing to be honest!

Ah I've not panicked about this until now. I'm 30 weeks pregnant, self employed and planned to work for another 7 weeks. Even if I decide to claim maternity allowance early it wont be processed in time. Plus I won't have enough money to give to the tax man when I complete my self assessment in April. What a mess.

EasterEggz · 16/03/2020 19:26

I'm 24 weeks and asthmatic in London. We have to do this ladies. It's bloody inconvenient and scary but ultimately it's my baby's life and my life I am protecting. So I will do what it takes. Speak to your boss, and if they're not sympathetic tell them you're self quarantining.

Nellie3 · 16/03/2020 19:28

@LatteLover12 and @Chanel05 I am also a teacher, also planning to speak to the head asap in the morning. No idea what to do 😯 xx

Important clarification from the Dept of Health:

twitter.com/PaulBrandITV/status/1239616279398449152?s=20

Pregnant women advised to reduce social contact.

NemophilistRebel · 16/03/2020 19:39

Reduce but not lock away at home without leaving house?

Or lock away at home ?!

NemophilistRebel · 16/03/2020 19:42

Any pregnant people here still going into work ?

greywoollyjumper · 16/03/2020 19:48

I'm going to work from home but not sure if my DH is meant to as well?? And whether I need to pull DD out of nursery? There's no point in me self isolating if they're going about as normal as could easily pass it to me. But the 3 of us stuck in the house together for 3 months...😱

Chefwifelife · 16/03/2020 19:51

I think we’re meant to socially distance rather than isolate unless we have symptoms.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 16/03/2020 19:51

AudHvamm

That post on twitter makes it even less clear, especially with a link to the DoH website posted below it.

People are trying to clarify but are then making it even more confused

Somerandompersons · 16/03/2020 19:51

Looks like pregnant people are supposed to reduce social contact, not self isolate.

I'm going to go to work tomorrow and see what information comes out tomorrow.

6weeksandscared · 16/03/2020 19:52

I'm 10 weeks and a teacher in asrgr secondary school. Really unsure about what to do. I haven't told school yet and wasn't planning to until I reached 12 weeks due to a mc in Sept. Feeling very anxious.

6weeksandscared · 16/03/2020 19:54

Charliesammo · 16/03/2020 19:55

I am 13 weeks pregnant today and work in London and all still going to work - there is talk of us all as a business working from home but this hasn’t come into effect yet - what should we do?

Charliesammo · 16/03/2020 19:56

I burst into tears on the train today - my friends were sending me lots of links of the news that we all have to isolate for 12 weeks is that true? Should we be working from home? I am 13 weeks pregnant today

littlemisssunshinehere · 16/03/2020 19:57

I'm 19 weeks pregnant and suffer with bad asthma, I'm crapping myself guys
