What does this actually mean, are we allowed to get in our cars and go stay with others. I would struggle at home isolated if told i cannot go out so I'm thinking to go stay with family but would we be allowed to go there? Does it mean streets would be deserted?

Which country are you in, and whereabouts? Where would family be?

FlamingoAndJohn · 17/03/2020 07:32

I would think so. In most countries they have said that lockdown starts at a certain time so as long as you go to your family before that time it’s ok.

UK, London, just about 20minute drive away. I get anxious with the idea of being told not to leave my home.

Go to www.Gov.uk there is a big red banner across the top about coronavirus - what you need to do. All current govt advice is there.

Do you have an underlying health condition? Do your family?

Eesha · 17/03/2020 08:42

No underlying health condition for me or my family. It's just I get quite claustrophobic if feeling forced to stay in anywhere but will feel better if have the ability to get out or stay with family.

So would you be doing one trip with your essential belongngs and then staying with family for the next few weeks? Or going back and forth?

Eesha · 17/03/2020 09:49

Just one trip there and staying there.

Well it's only "advisory" at the minute rather than "compulsory", so if you feel that would be a better place for you, then no-one's going to stop you.

Good luck, and stay safe.

kaldefotter · 17/03/2020 10:16

If you’re going to, do it soon then stay put. Don’t wait until the numbers have gone up. You’re risking contributing to the spread.

Italy and Spain both saw increased CV transmission due to people fleeing the hotspots in Milan and Madrid, travelling to their holiday homes, and creating new hotspots where they travelled to.

TheCanterburyWhales · 17/03/2020 10:25

It depends on what the govt will tell you when the time comes.
Try not to worry Flowers
Here in Italy it came in stages. Schools closed, but life went on. Then when national lockdown was announced there were more restrictions on movement. Now we are allowed out only for essential reasons (food shopping/chemists etc)
