Avoiding social contact- electrician visit

I'm pregnant and have seen this afternoon's advice re reducing social contact. I have already been working from home and reducing social contact to virtually nothing, but our central heating has stopped working and we had an engineer booked to come and look at it tomorrow. Would you go ahead with their visit?

I definitely would, as central heating is essential I would say (especially if you’re pregnant)

Yes, just get him to wash his hands. Obviously, if he has symptoms, don’t let him in.

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2020 17:35

Yes, just stay away from him and wash your hands after he’s been if you touch anything he touched.

EasterEggz · 16/03/2020 17:35

Yes good idea about his hands. I'll explain I'm pregnant (pretty obvious) and therefore being careful and ask him to use hand gel.

A little update. The engineer thankfully texted us before he came saying he's been exposed to a client's child with a flu virus, and did we still want him to come round. Needless to say we thanked him for his honesty but said no thank you!!

Ah that’s a shame. We had British Gas here, the guy was fine and called in advance to say he was healthy. He stayed more than six feet away from me, when he left I wiped the door handle he’d touched and then washed my hands even though I’d not touched him or been near him. I haven’t wiped the boiler down but if I need to touch it I will do so in advance.
