What Is The Point of That Mass Statement From Shops?

If they're not going to follow it through.

DP has just been to our local Iceland Warehouse- we usually go here as it keeps our costs down and we've been stocking up for our wedding buffet putting a catering box away a week to spread the cost.
We've not bought stupid amounts of food as it's selfish! And so unnecessary.
He just called and said it's not as manic as we've seen online but there are a couple of women and a couple in there, one woman had 3 trolleys, one had two and the couple had a trolley that just had pasta in. The female from the couple was shouting across the store in the manner of Supermarket Sweep telling her partner to hurry up and grab all the flash bleach.
Meanwhile, my DP can't get any pasta for the week or bleach. Or loo roll. Or sanitary towels. Because these three lots have nabbed the lot.
Now, it's possible one of them is doing a shop for others of course, but he said he saw an older gent asking could he take one of their bottles of bleach and the woman said no as they got there first.
DP said he was hoping they got told no at the till as they deserved it. Nope. They didn't, they were allowed to pay and walk out.

I know as an ex retail employee that telling customers no isn't easy, but after so many supermarkets telling people they were placing restrictions on, surely the sales floor staff should stick by this. Or at the very least try to?

DP now has to try and brave Morrisons, Asda or Aldi to see if he can get what we need for our normal weeks shopping. But no doubt it will be the same.

They need to start taking action to stop this stupidity.
