I'm worried

DS (2) has just started to possibly show symptoms. Coughing and wheezing a bit. I'm sneezing as well, with an extremely runny nose, but no cough/tightness in my chest. Neither of us have a fever, so under normal circumstances I'd write this off as a cold.

We were already socially distancing, but because of people clearing the shelves only have enough food for a few days, as haven't been able to do our usual weekly shop for a while now. No freezer, just an ice box in a tiny fridge. No online delivery slots where we are, and no tinned/pasta/rice etc anyway. Thankfully have DP to do shopping, but if he gets it we're well and truly buggered (which if that's what it is he's likely to, as live in a tiny two bed flat with no space to swing a mouse, let alone a cat). Plus, we've just scraped ourself out of financial difficulties, and if DP get signed off sick and onto SSP, we won't be able to make ends meet.

Has anyone got any way we can get through this without putting other people at risk?

Send DP out to shops to buy lots of porridge oats (say 4 1ib bags) and milk. Tinned or packet soups. Eggs. Cheap and nutritious. Easy to cook and eat when feeling ill. Tell him to get honey if he can, or golden syrup as a sub.

@BMW6 thank you, I hadn't thought of things like that

@tallah I'm hoping that's the case, but wouldn't want to take the risk. If it turns out that it is, and we'd just been blithely going about and putting others in jeopardy, I'd be horrified

Of course, sorry didn't mean to sound flippant, was just trying to ease some worry x

@tallah not at all, it didn't seem flippant to me, just a lovely comment. I'm just anxious so coming across as though I've got a stick up my bum. Not helped by DS periodically screeching in distress when he's waking himself up from coughing poor mite. (which he does every time he's got a cold tbh) so I feel like I can't settle.
