Anyone else getting angry

Just reading about France and Spain and USA all shutting down schools and basically trying to STOP the spread and UK not doing anything? I'm France 50% of those in hospital are under 50 years old!

Just disgusted with th government here. And no updates, no advice, basically we are on our own I think.

In other countries the president or prime minister or health minister is giving regular updates and advice. And trying to get the community spirit going that we' re Lana in it together.

How are the scientific advisors in the uk so out of step with the rest of the world?

Agree. And I think it’s only a matter of time before they reverse it. It’s clearly not sustainable and they are now coming under pressure from the scientific community and other countries.

I think it’s bizarre. Here in Holland the schools, cafés and restaurants have all shut, all gyms etc as well. I’ve just read that all mosques in the country have closed. Everyone’s doing their best to try to slow the spread, and it will cost many people their businesses. The Dutch PM gave press conferences on Wednesday and Thursday, today was the education minister and another minister, tomorrow the PM again.

And Boris Johnson is just fannying about doing who the fuck knows what!

They have to open up eventually, airports and all.

What then? Carnage.

Our govt has looked at the reality of the situation and decided to spread the emergency as much as possible to prevent the health system collapsing and therefore wholesale loss of life and gruesome, un-palliatively treated deaths.

DamselInTheStress · 15/03/2020 23:50

I disagree. The shutdowns are slowing the spread. They cannot stop it, it’s still increasing rapidly.

I believe it’s the lack of shutdowns that are going to cause a ridiculously high peak.

Your crossed out text is revolting and unhelpful.

PicsInRed · 16/03/2020 00:03

Reality can be revolting. It really can.

Hopefully, the govt can spread the local epidemic enough that we won't see that here. Total shutdown won't do that as it's not sustainable.

The only thing I'm getting angry about is all those selfish bastards stripping the supermarket shelves and not giving a shit about anyone else.

There is absolutely no peer reviewed evidence that herd immunity in a non vaccine situation would work. It certainly didn’t work with polio, diphtheria etc. This government has got it wrong and the rest of Europe (as well as many UK scientists) agree.
