UK holiday booked, should I still go?

Have booked a 5 day break in a coastal part of the UK for my family and I (2adults 1 child) due to start on Wednesday. It's a 4 hour drive from home, staying in an Airbnb.

None of us are Immunocompromised, we haven't had any colds or sickness recently either.

Would you go?

Yes of course go :)

CaptainMyCaptain · 16/03/2020 07:23

Yes. Take your own cleaning equipment etc.

AltheaVestr1t · 16/03/2020 07:25

I’m not sure I would, not because I think you’re at any more risk of covid than you would be at home. What if one of you fell ill and had to self isolate - would you be able to get back? Would you have be able to isolate there? Would you be reliant on public transport, in the event that it is dialled back? Make sure you plan for all the eventualities!

AlfieandAnnieRose · 16/03/2020 07:33

Yes definitely go! Things will change soon I imagine and until then I’m keeping any plans I’ve made.
Also a coastal holiday will be good for your health!

Mother40 · 16/03/2020 07:35

I wouldn't go and we have cancelled.our UK break. Other countries are not on lockdown for no reason, and we really would.not.have enjoyed our break away.

zafferana · 16/03/2020 07:36

Yes, I would. My DSis went off to the Lake District on Saturday and said it's beautiful and empty.

AuntieMarys · 16/03/2020 07:37

Yes!

KitKat1985 · 16/03/2020 07:37

We're in a similar boat and have a UK break booked for 2 and a half weeks time taking the kids down to the New Forest for a week. Providing the country isn't in lockdown by then, we still plan to go and just be careful.

MotherOfAllNameChanges · 16/03/2020 07:42

I would go.

KoalasandRabbit · 16/03/2020 07:44

Yes I would go but keep a close eye on the news, this is assuming you are driving so have transport back so can get back in 0.5 days if we go on lockdown next weekend. News is moving so fast atm.

MoltonSilver · 16/03/2020 07:46

No. Everyone else is in or close to lockdown. What makes the UK think they're different?

Charley50 · 16/03/2020 07:47

Yes I'd go on a uk self-catering holiday.

SometimeSomeday · 16/03/2020 07:50

I wouldn’t go.

Sgtmajormummy · 16/03/2020 07:52

I have a timeshare in coastal Devon every year in April/May.

Last Monday THEY offered ME a date change free of charge to later in the year because of Cv.

I took it within 10 minutes of receiving the mail.
Don’t go.

audweb · 16/03/2020 07:53

Yes I would. We have a self catering holiday booked in the UK. I’m planning on going unless something drastic happens. We can cook in the lodge and go swimming (a low risk activity) and there’s beaches near by. I guess if I came down with it I’d drive straight home and self isolate, will just make sure I have stuff in the house - although people can leave things at your door to get delivery wise.

DoTheNextRightThing · 16/03/2020 07:58

Yes, go ahead. You're no more likely to catch it there than you are at home. Might as well do something fun in the middle of all this chaos.

bedknobsand · 16/03/2020 08:02

I'm going on a UK holiday today...

LIZS · 16/03/2020 08:03

As long as you are not planning to walk into hot spots I would go. Walks on the beach and take plenty of games to entertain indoors.

Greendayz · 16/03/2020 08:03

I'd go if you're planning to spend your time doing outdoor stuff and are able to take enough food with you in a car. Wouldn't want to rely of there being any pubs or restaurants open or any indoor things to do

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 16/03/2020 08:07

Go

flowery · 16/03/2020 08:09

We have a few days self catering booked over Easter in a remote cottage near the beach. At the moment we intend to go. We will be effectively self-isolating in Norfolk rather than at home, and it’s not far from home anyway if we need to go back.

mumto2teenagers · 16/03/2020 08:09

Yes I’d go, we live in London so if anything would be more likely to catch it at home.

I assume you will be driving so if a lockdown was announced you could the easily get home

goodthanks · 16/03/2020 08:11

We're in the same boat and aren't going. I wouldn't enjoy it sadly.
