Just wondering if I am one of the high risk and considered vulnerable? How worried should I be 😬

In my late 30s, fit and well but have mild asthma but often get respiratory infections when I get a cold. Have needed nebulisers and antibiotics etc

Also on medication for hypertension. I have had hypertension since my late teens.

Also I work with young children

I have mild asthma that gets worse when I'll and I consider myself to be at risk of complications.

Watching with interest!!!

Some medications for hypertension are meant to worsen the symptoms. I can't recall which ones but there is an article or paper somewhere. I know because my mum has medicated hypertension and found out her medication wasn't one of the risky ones.

I would definitely say you need to take precautions but it all depends how they define 'the vulnerable' when it comes to quarantining them!

I have found it ruralliving19 and yes that’s my medication :( I wonder if it’s worth getting it changed to another type

I'm in my early 30s and have mild but well managed asthma. However whenever I get any bad cold it usually goes straight to my chest and last time I needed to be hospitalised so I would consider myself vulnerable and I'm concerned about the lack of information out there for asthmatics.

I currently feel vulnerable at work in a public facing role in retail, and no option to work from home otherwise I would.

Asthma UK has some good advice on their website and you can email or WhatsApp an asthma-respiratory specialist nurse for advice. I’ve found this helpful, maybe others on here might.

You might want to try to discuss your medication with your GP (by phone or internet, ideally) OP. DH was interested in the Lancet paper (the one referred to in the DM piece) as he's got hypertension - he's on calcium channel blockers (the type suggested) as ACE inhibitors didn't work on him.
