Thermometer

We have a boots own was thermometer, but have run out of caps. Someone said they don’t record proper temperature without them, is this true? I’m panicking now as took my temp earlier (I have a sore throat) and I thought it was normal, now I’m worrying it’s wrong without a cap.

They need the cap for the sensor to work effectively.

But you made me check my amazon order history and the ones I use cost £4.06 in may 2018 and are now £39.99. Ffs

Would they still give an accurate reading or not at all?

@cathy the booklet I have for the Braun one says not. Our nurse tells us to use a clean one each time. Do you have access to any other kind of thermometer?

Do you have an adult at home with you who feels well? They could place back of hand on your forehead to see if you feel warm. Do you have flushed cheeks? It's not scientific but that's what I do before I get out the thermometer

@sooverthemill I actually just found my basal thermometer from when I was tracking ovulation.
I just put it under my tongue and after it beeped it read 36.8. Strangely that’s the same as my ear thermometer has been saying!

I don’t have a thermometer so will be guess for me, but I have a cough anyway.

Talking of thermometers. I don't have one and when paramedic took it the other day it was high so I decided I'd invest in one.

Saw one on Amazon for £25, thought about it for a little while, went back and it had gone up to £60!!!!!
